Crocodylus is a truly unique hostel resort situated at Cow Bay, between the World Heritage rainforest areas of the Daintree and Cape Tribulation National Parks and the Great Barrier Reef.

The resort is hidden under a tall stand of some of the remaining lowland rainforest on the Queensland tropical coast. Crocodylus Village adjoins the Baileys Creek section of Cape Tribulation National Park. A giant strangler fig tree provides a dramatic centrepiece to the village.

Activities:

There are swimming holes, isolated beaches and many places of interest within walking distance of Crocodylus.

The Orange Rope Walk is a self guided 1 hour walk with 38 numbers along the way marking the track. Wildlife abounds so keep a good look out for animals.

Guided Nightwalks and Daywalks departing from Crocodylus are available where your guide will lead you through the amazing and unique rainforest, explaining the unique eco-system.

A morning Paddle Trek is a great way to start your day, sea kayak your way along the pristine coastline to Shipwreck Bay. Snorkel over delicate fringing reef or relax on isolated beaches. Snorkelling, safety gear and a tropical fruit breakfast are included.

2 Day / 1 Night Snapper Island Sea Kayak tours also depart from here every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Spend 2 days snorkeling, fishing or relaxing in your hammock. All camping equipment, meals and snorkeling equipment is supplied.

Orientation:
On arrival, guests are given an orientation talk and provided with maps and directions of the local area.

Safari tent accommodation: 
With the environment in mind the tent huts have been delicately built off the ground and spaced out amongst the dense tropical rainforest.  The rainforest canopy remains undisturbed by these safari tents.  From the comfort of your hut you can feel part of the rainforest, listening to and watching the wildlife of the forest.

Jungle Restaurant: 
Large home style meals are served daily. Start the day with a cooked breakfast, muesli or a special pancake. The dinner menu varies daily with always a special choice for vegetarians.

Being in an isolated area, Crocodylus generates its own electricity. The resort is powered by generators, which run 24 hours per day. However, you may wish to bring a flashlight with you for night walks in the rainforest. 

Children are welcome and the atmosphere is friendly and casual.

Location:
Crocodylus is a 2.5 hour drive from Cairns by private car.  Cross the Daintree River by ferry, head north over the Alexandra Range for 14 kms, then turn right into Buchanan Creek Rd.  Crocodylus Village is 2 kms from the turnoff.  Crocodylus is accessible all year round by conventional vehicles.
