Crocodylus is a truly unique hostel resort situated at Cow Bay, between the World Heritage rainforest areas of the Daintree and Cape Tribulation National Parks and the Great Barrier Reef.

The resort is hidden under a tall stand of some of the remaining lowland rainforest on the Queensland tropical coast. Crocodylus Village adjoins the Baileys Creek section of Cape Tribulation National Park. A giant strangler fig tree provides a dramatic centrepiece to the village.

Orientation:
On arrival, guests are given an orientation talk and provided with maps and directions of the local area.

Safari tent accommodation: 
With the environment in mind the tent huts have been delicately built off the ground and spaced out amongst the dense tropical rainforest.  The rainforest canopy remains undisturbed by these safari tents.  From the comfort of your hut you can feel part of the rainforest, listening to and watching the wildlife of the forest. 

Multi-share Dorm Share Huts (max 4)
Perfect for backpackers or those travelling alone share the rainforest experience in one of the multi-share dorm rooms.  Each of the rooms have a maximum of four beds (2 bunks) and open out onto their very own rainforest verandah.  Toilet and shower facilities are available in the shared amenities block just metres away.

Jungle Double (max 2)
Just te thing for those watching their pennies but who don't want to share. Our Jungle Doubles or Twins have a double bed with mozzie net and use of the shared faciltiies. Toilets are only metres away so midnight visits are no problem!

Tropical Cabin Ensuite Huts (max 2)
Nestled under the undisturbed rainforest canopy and with only one common wall, Tropical Cabins are perfect for a couple.  Each cabin has its own shower and separate toilet, a double bed and an outdoor table and chairs for the private verandah.

Rainforest Bungalow Family Huts (max 8)
Set individually within the rainforest with no common walls and sleeping up to eight people, Rainforest Bungalows are perfect for a large family or perhaps two smaller ones.  Each bungalow has its own bathroom facilities and a large private veranda with tables and chairs

Being in an isolated area, Crocodylus generates its own electricity. The resort is powered by generators, which run 24 hours per day. However, you may wish to bring a flashlight with you for night walks in the rainforest. 

Self Catering Kitchen:
The self catering kitchen has everything you need to prepare all your own meals. 
Crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, fridges, gas cooker, BBQ, microwave, kettle, fridges and freezers and lots more.

Kingfisher Cafe is open 7am-10pm everyday with loads of fresh and tasty tropical fare that will tantalise your taste buds but won’t break your budget.

Gecko Bar is fully licensed with plenty of exotic cocktails and local brews to keep you well watered and your thirst at bay.

Children are welcome and the atmosphere is friendly and casual.

Location:
Crocodylus is a 2.5 hour drive (122km) north from Cairns by private car.  Cross the Daintree River by ferry, head north over the Alexandra Range for 14 kms, then turn right into Buchanan Creek Rd.  Crocodylus Village is 2 kms from the turnoff.  Crocodylus is accessible all year round by conventional vehicles. Cow Bay Beach is about 3km drive or a 40 minute walk.

**There is no mobile coverage in the Daintree**

2 Day / 1 Night Snapper Island Sea Kayak tours also depart from here every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Spend 2 days snorkeling, fishing or relaxing in your hammock. All camping equipment, meals and snorkeling equipment is supplied.
