The Moo Bay Muse is built amongst the splendour of the Daintree rainforest close to beautiful Cow Bay beach, with world heritage listed National Park at the rear of the property. Escape to a different way of life with solar generated power, rain fed water supply and an open plan design that lets you enjoy forest and garden views from every room.

Designed specifically to function as a retreat from the rest of the world, the Muse is meant to inspire peace and tranquility as well as the desire to be creative. Hence it’s name – it is a retreat for the artist in us all.

This one bedroom cottage can sleep up to 4 adults with a king size bed in the main bedroom and an upstairs loft accessible by ladder, which can be made up either with a king bed or 2 singles. The main bedroom features a small balcony and garden views. The loft and has an adjoining verandah with tree top views.

There is a DVD player, CD player and small flat screen TV. Digital Austar is connected however free to air TV is not available in the area. Access to Broadband is via a satellite dish. The Muse also has a CD library and a selection of Books, Games and DVD’s for guest use as well as 2 pushbikes and helmets and snorkelling gear.

Moo Bay Muse features beautiful gardens with abundant bird and butterfly species. Enjoy rainforest and creek hikes, beach walks, exploring and fishing. There is a semi-permanent creek via a path from the rear of the cottage.

Please Note:

This retreat is powered by solar power so conserving power is necessary. Hair dryers and Irons are not permitted. Laundry can be done by rrangement and requires the use of a generator for the extra power requirement. The fridge and lighting are 24 volt and run directly from the stored battery power. Rain water is collected and stored in three large storage tanks. Hot water is supplied by a gas hot water system and there is a gas stove cooktop in the kitchen. 

On arrival at the Muse you will be met by someone who has an understanding of how the house works. They will explain how to use all amenities. Please be aware that at all times there is a need to conserve power and water whenever possible. If you are efficient in its use you should have no shortage of either.

The Muse whilst closable, is built to be open to the elements and as such there are no insect screens. Please open all the doors and windows and let
the air circulate through the house. This allows the house (and you) to breathe. The cottage is fenced to keep any stray large wildlife from getting up too close and personal.

Location:

The Moo Bay Muse is located in the Daintree Rainforest at Cow Bay and backs onto World Heritage listed National Park. Cow Bay is a 2 hour drive North of Cairns airport and a 1 hour drive North of Port Douglas. The drive north involves crossing the Daintree River on a car ferry. Cow Bay beach is a 15 - 20 minute walk from the cottage via a dirt road and the closest shop is a 25 minute drive to the north.

As Moo Bay Muse is located in a relatively remote area so it is important to bring adequate supplies of food and other essentials with you. A small supermarket is located a 20 minute drive to the north. The closest large supermarket is at Mossman, an hours drive to the south.

Servicing:

All linen and beach towels are supplied with extra supplies on site. There is also a gas BBQ and a camp fire BBQ. A supply of ready cut firewood and kindling is provided. Serviced every 3-4 days, basic servicing includes maintenance of the electricity and water supply, washing of clothes if required and gardening. Both the Power and Water storage systems will be checked and if necessary replenished.
