BOYD'S FOREST DRAGON

See Real Jungle with a local resident Guide!

The Rainforest at Cape Tribulation is incredibly interesting and beautiful. There are strange, ancient and dangerous plants, as well as rare birds and wildlife.

Mason’s Tours have guides who can take you to the best areas on real jungle trails, on private land. They do not use boardwalks or concrete paths, they are typical jungle trails perhaps resembling an Aboriginal Road that would have existed here before the arrival of Europeans. This is a very authentic view of the forest compared to using a boardwalk.

The walking tracks are located on Mason's own 170ha property - bounded by the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and Daintree National Park to the west and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park to the east.

This tour offers a very special opportunity to spend time in the Daintree rainforest with a well informed local resident. The Half Day Walk is an easy paced tour through breathtaking rainforest. The guides literally know the forest like the back of their hands! They won't confuse you with scientific jargon, as they pride themselves on explaining things in simple, understandable English.

Look out for wildlife on this trip; there are good birdwatching opportunities. You may also be lucky enough to see a Cassowary, one of the world's tallest birds at 6ft. It is among the most important of all rainforest birds because only it can transport the seeds of many large fruited rainforest plants.

This slow paced walk covers 4 – 5km, features a special guide, real jungle tracks and a refreshing swim in Myall Creek – is there a better way to be introduced to the Daintree rainforest at Cape Tribulation?

Participants need to be fit enough to walk 4 – 5 km over uneven ground. Covered shoes suitable for bushwalking  such as sneakers, boots or real hiking sandals need to be worn.
