Sunrise Paddle Trek

Paddle trekking along the amazing Daintree Rainforest coastline off beautiful Cow Bay beach at sunrise is one of the most popular activities on the Daintree National Park coastline.  Tropical Sea Kayaks offers three tours including the Sunrise, Midday and Overnight paddle trek.

Why we like it..

  • Spectacular views of the Daintree Rainforest
  • Spot exciting Marine life
  • No Experience necessary

  • Snorkelling (subject to visibility)
  • Safety gear
  • Stinger Suits
  • Tropical morning tea
  • Minimum age is 6yrs
  • Departs from Cow Bay Beach at 8:30am - 10:30am.

Kayak your way along the pristine Daintree National Park coastline in the quiet of the morning in a 7m double kayak. Then take a break or two to eat a yummy tropical morning tea on one of the pristine beaches along the way.  Spend the rest of the morning snorkelling over delicate coral fringing reefs (subject to visibility), admiring the views of the rainforest from the sea, or searching for turtles, dolphins and a myriad of other sea creatures, all under the care of experienced guides.

Cow Bay Beach is a 2.5 hour drive (122km) north from Cairns by private car.  Cross the Daintree River by ferry (cost), head north over the Alexandra Range for 14 kms, then turn right into Buchanan Creek Rd.  Cow Bay Beach is accessible all year round by conventional vehicles. Cow Bay Beach is about 3km drive down Buchanan Creek Rd.

This tour is based at Crocodylus Village, Cow Bay.

Snapper Island Two Day One Night Kayaking Adventure

One of the best sea kayaking trips from Port Douglas ever! This paddle trekking tour to beautiful Snapper Island National Park is simply amazing! The two day trip across the Great Barrier Reef surrounded by dolphins, dugongs, and turtles, camping on pristine untouched beaches, will have you wanting to become a modern Robinson Crusoe and stay in the Daintree forever!

Snapper Island National Park is situated 2 kilometres from the mouth of the Daintree River, and 11km from Wonga Beach, 30 minutes drive north from Port Douglas. Uninhabited, filled with tropical rainforest and surrounded by magnificent coral reef and white sandy beaches Snapper Island will fill up your time in no time - snorkeling, walking, lazing and exploring.

The Itinerary

Your trekking adventure starts 10am from Wonga Beach just 30 minutes drive from Port Douglas. Here you will also receive your orientation and camping paraphernalia e.g. dry bag, snorkel sets, and stinger suits.  Then we pair up, jump in our stable 7m double kayaks, and off you go!

The 11km kayak is taken at a slow pace to ensure everyone makes the most of the spectacular views of the Daintree Coastline and can spend time posing for photos and spotting all the sea life that accompanies you along the way - turtles and sea birds for sure and maybe even a dugong or whale!

Throughout the trip you will be accompanied by our expert (and entertaining) guide who will keep you safe, prepare your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, set up your tents and sing you to sleep (well at least send you to sleep with his jokes and ghost stories).

Once on the island you will have plenty of time to explore Snapper Islands rainforest and fringing coral reefs before settling down to dinner and a spectacular sunset then its off to bed in your true room with a view two man tent to rest up for tomorrow's next adventure.

Wake up next day to the amazing sunrise and if you are really lucky breakfast in bed (well maybe a coffee or tea at least) then its off again to kayak slowly back to Wonga Beach.
