The Discovery Centre offers visitors an opportunity to learn about and explore one of the few remaining unspoiled pockets of lowland rainforest in Far North Queensland, while at the same time protecting the fragile environment.

- Interpretive Display Centre
- Coffee Shop
- Environment Shop
- Audio Visual Theatre
- Elevated Rainforest Boardwalks
- Guided Group Tours
- Self-Guided Audio Tours
- Interpretive Guide Book

The Centre is an accredited Wet Tropics Visitor Centre just 10 kms north of the Daintree River ferry. With a large indoor display area, the latest touch screen technology, audio visual theatre and sweeping, all-weather verandas, the Centre has something to offer everyone.
Four hundred metres of elevated, timber boardwalks thread their way through the rainforest allowing you to really experience this unspoiled wilderness - at the same time protecting the fragile environment.
The Cassowary Circuit and the Bush Tucker Trail are well sign posted and self-guided audio tours are available in a variety of languages.
There are strategically placed viewing platforms situated around the boardwalk where you can sit and enjoy the ambiance of the rainforest. The spectacular Aerial Walkway and the 23m (76ft) Canopy Tower are a 'must see'. The Tower comprises five different viewing platforms allowing visitors of all ages to access the various levels of the rainforest - from the forest floor to the upper most reaches of the canopy.
The spectacular mid-canopy walkway provides a living link between the new Coffee Shop/Reception area and The Canopy Tower. The Aerial Walkway allows unprecedented access to the mid-level rainforest and offers stunning views over McLean's Creek. The walkway enables wheelchair access to both the Interpretive Display Centre and the base of the Tower.
A 48 page Interpretive Guide Book is included with the adult entry fee. This informative text is full of useful information, and not only does it provide a comprehensive guided tour of DCC, it also includes entertaining information on birds, frogs, reptiles, weather, history, etc.
The Discovery Centre is open every day (except Christmas Day) from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Entry fee applies.
Getting There:
The Daintree Discovery Centre is an easy 2 hour drive north of Cairns along one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world. Crossing the Daintree River via a vehicular ferry is an experience not to be missed. Please note you do not need a 4WD vehicle to drive to the Daintree Discovery Centre - the road is sealed all the way to Cape Tribulation and readily accessible by both 2 wheel drive vehicles as well as motor bikes and cycles. The turn off to the Discovery Centre is 10 kms north of the ferry with the car park at the rear of the property.
There are also a number of tour companies who offer day trips that include the Daintree Discovery Centre as part of their itinerary.
Tourism Awards:
The Daintree Discovery Centre is widely recognised as a tourism leader in Far North Queensland, winning the prestigious “Steve Irwin Ecotourism Award” at the Queensland Tourism Awards 2007, the coveted Tropical North Queensland Tourism Award for Ecotourism 2004 – 2007 and will next year be inducted into the TNQ Tourism Awards Hall of Fame.
