Day One: Journey to Cape Tribulation, Check into Ferntree Rainforest Lodge

Explore the World Heritage wilderness on your journey up to Ferntree Rainforest Lodge. Cape Tribulation is one of nature's true paradises, where you will be holidaying in one of the world's most remarkable environments. This unique destination is the only area where two World Heritage listed sites sit side by side - the ancient Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.

Ferntree Rainforest Lodge is set within natural surroundings where you can enjoy the soothing sounds of the rainforest.

A total escape...there are no televisions in any of the guest rooms leaving you with no other option but to relax in the ambience of the lazy tropical Queensland lifestyle.

From here it is just a short walk to the white sands of Cape Tribulation Beach.

Day Two: Rum Runner

Travel time to the reef averages 45-60 minutes, providing guests with a leisurely five hours to explore the magnificent Mackay and/or Undine Reefs.

Rum Runner is the only full day dive boat operator from Cape Tribulation, offering a genuine small group reef experience. Surveyed to accommodate 100 people the Rum Runner limits it's numbers to a maximum of 60 passengers allowing guests plenty of room to lay about enjoying the glorious Queensland sunshine.

First time snorkellers or divers will be cared for by the highly trained crew to ensure your experience is a safe and memorable one. Snorkelling demonstrations are offered on arrival at the reef, and swimming aids are available for your comfort.

The reef site is perfect for beginners and advanced snorkellers alike. The experienced diver has the freedom to enjoy the abundant marine life. Reef Sharks, Turtles, Clown Anemonefish, Trumpetfish, Giant Clams, Spotted Blue Rays, Nudibranchs, Barracuda, Potato Cod, not to mention the awesome variety of hard and soft corals is waiting to be discovered.

The advantages of snorkelling and diving from Cape Tribulation are:

• Two World Heritage Areas - Cape Tribulation is where the Daintree National Park meets the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
• The reefs are not as subject to the Agricultural run-off and visitor volume of other reefs further south.
• The reefs accessible from Cape Tribulation are only 19km away compared with far greater distances for reef operators from Cairns.
• Water visibilty averages 15-25 metres (50-80ft), with water temperatures 21-31 degrees celcius (70-80 fahrenheit).

A delicious tropical lunch buffet is included as well as snorkelling equipmentand transfers between Cow Bay and Noah Beach.

This trip departs Cape Tribulation 8:30am daily all year round, except March. It returns at approximately 5:00pm to your Cape Tribulation accommodation.

Day Three:  Masons Half Day 4WD Safari

Go off-road with Mason’s Tours on the famous Bloomfield Track, well known since Council Bulldozers pushed it through the Daintree Rainforest in spite of protestors in 1983. Enjoy an Aboriginal guided walk with traditional owners at Bloomfield Falls. Walker’s Tours, based at Bloomfield provide an insight into Yalangi culture, and we are proud to be associated with them.

The Bloomfield Track starts just north of Cape Tribulation, which is itself 36 kilometres north of the Daintree River.

The track continues for 32 kilometres through rugged terrain to the Bloomfield River, and a road continues to Cooktown from there. There are no houses or farms in this area, just the magnificent Daintree National Park coming right down to the Coral Sea, meeting the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. This is truly wilderness.

The Bloomfield Track safari is Masons most popular 4WD tour, and takes in the best scenery between Cape Tribulation and the 40m Bloomfield Falls. You will marvel at the magnificent scenery in this remote wilderness region which is only accessible by four wheel drive vehicles.

Mason’s use modern Toyota Landcruiser Four Wheel Drive Diesel vehicles which are air conditioned and fully equipped to handle the rugged off road conditions experienced on the famous Bloomfield Track. Only 7 are taken in each group and as much time as possible is spent outside the 4WD.

Departs 7:00am from Cow Bay accommodation and 7:30am from Cape Tribulation accommodation.
Returns 12:30pm to Cape Tribulation accommodation and 1:00pm to Cow Bay accommodation.

Day Four: Check out from Ferntree Rainforest Lodge, End of Package
